By Rev. Fr. Anthony Adetayo
The Social Communications Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode joins the entire Nigerian Church in marking the communications week ‘Comweek’ with the theme “listening with the ear of the heart”. This made the Diocese to hold its first-ever Communications summit on Saturday 28th May 2022 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ejinrin Road by 11:00am. In attendance at this program was the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, Vicar for Pastoral, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Kunle Balogun. The keynote address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Alfred-Matthew Nworie, the Chaplain of Sacred Heart Catholic College Ijebu-Ode while the guest speaker was Miss Ukamaka Owoh, a Broadcast journalist at NTA Victoria Island Lagos.
The program also had in attendance, the Communication Committees of all parishes, CAMPAN and CAEAN members and representatives of all Organizations and Societies in the church.
The guest speaker today reiterated the need to be more involved in the digital Media space. “This is because the LGBTQ promoters are never tired of using the media, we must be intentional about the use of Media and we must allow this to trickle down to all aspects of our life as a Church even in our families”.
The Bishop blessed some communication gadgets like new lenses, new lighting system, tripods, and a new Mavic Pro drone camera. Students of Sacred Heart Catholic College entertained the audience with attention grabbing drama.
The Bishop blessed the patrons and Patronesses and inaugurated them before everyone present
The patrons and Patronesses were extremely joyful and gave thanks to the Bishop for seeing them as worthy candidates to receive such a honour. The Bishop encouraged them to give their best in ensuring that the social Communications Commission experiences growth in their time and that the project of establishing a studio for the commission becomes their immediate task. The Bishop issues a Press release immediately after the closing prayer.
